This pet tracking device project is a WMP-100 based tracking system designed to monitor a dog's position.
The tracking unit is approximately the size of a pack of cards to contain the WMP-100, GPS and battery system. The basic communication of the tracking unit is based on inexpensive SMS messages between the modem and a call center and from the call center to the owner. Along with parsing the SMS communication the WMP-100 maintains a GPS monitoring of the dogs position and would generate an alarm condition if the position of the tracking unit ventured out of a know good position.
The control logic maintained by the WMP-100 provided up to 5 programmed GEO-Fences as well as one additional flexible positioned fence, status LEDs, a user input button as well as maintaining battery charge logic.
When the unit is in active targeting mode and the given GPS position placed the target system outside of any of the given GEO fences an alarm message would be sent to the call centers web interface. The call center would then contact the units owner with the alarm condition as well as position.
Through the call center web site, the owner can change the target systems operating mode, change alarm condition as well as modify any of the 5 GEO-Fence coordinates. All status changes and updates are relay all updated information to the tracking unit. The owner also has the ability to change the operating mode as well as create/modify a flexible GEO-fence position through the user input button.
