Audio/Visual DSP

Application

Audio/Video DSP and control for the home automation industry

Technologies

Dual TI DaVinci DM6441 DSPs, Embedded Linux, NAND Flash, VLYNQ Interface, Audio codecs, Video codecs

The Home Automation and Security Control Panel used dual TI DaVinci DM6441 DSPs to perform signal processing on audio and video streams piped to it from throughout the home. Both of the DSPs booted out of NAND Flash into Linux where the main application was written. Spectrum also wrote custom drivers for the peripheral devices such as the audio and video codecs. The two DSPs communicated to each other via the chip-to-chip VLYNQ interface.

By following Spectrum's proprietary and mandatory design processes, our engineers were able to boot Linux on both devices and run the board to full functionality on the first spin. Spectrum delivered the fully functional first spin of the board to the customer with zero cuts, jumpers, or other modifications.
